Mobile ecommerce, or M-commerce is the ability to purchase goods anywhere through a wireless Internet-enabled device. 

Mobile Commerce ( M-Commerce ) will be the next new wave thanks to cell phones, handheld PCs and souped-up pagers that are increasingly web enabled. 

The New Economy
What makes wireless e-commerce so enticing is its ability to allow consumers to manage their time better. Always precious, time in the 21st century will be the most precious commodity for anyone. The "new economy" built around the Internet will be a customer-focused economy that wireless fits into perfectly. 

Smart Phones 
Third Generation - 3G Phones will be the mobile device of choice in the future. Why a smart phone instead of something sexier, like a Palm or Handspring PDA? Because communications lie at the heart of what is really useful about a pocket able device, and adding other functions to a cell phone turns out to make a lot more sense than grafting communications onto a PDA.

( Wireless Application Protocol ). WAP is a set of specifications for developing web-like applications that run over wireless networks. The basic aim of WAP is to provide a web-like experience on small portable devices - like mobile phones and PDAs. 

Right now this means viewing Internet pages, using text only, and very simple black and white pictures. 

It is estimated by the year 2002, there will be over 800 million wireless users world wide. Eventually, all wireless tools will come equipped with WAP as standard issue.
